MOTHERS' UNION ENJOY BANKS'S STADIUM VISIT
September 2007
Treasurers and Administrators from Mothers’ Union branches across Britain and Ireland descended upon the Banks’s Stadium for a national conference. And they were joined by the Anglican mission agency’s International President Rosemary Kempsell who used the opportunity to unveil a new branding to re-launch the agency.
In her role as International President, Rosemary Kempsell has visited Mothers’ Union branches in Burma and the Phillipines, South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and Uganda; but said she felt no hesitation at visiting the less exotic home of Walsall Football Club. She said: “Every where I go is different, but the one thing they all have in common is football. Wherever I go, even to small African villages, I see youngsters playing football in the street - in some cases with home made footballs.”
Walsall Football Club’s Conference & Banqueting Sales Executive, Dianne Elsworth, commented: "We are delighted to welcome the Mothers' Union to the Banks's Stadium. They do a great mount of good work and we are pleased that they have chosen the facilities here at the Banks's Stadium for their national conference."

BOSTIN' BLACK COUNTRY WEDDING MENU NOW AVAILABLE
August 2007
The Conference & Banqueting Department are celebrating their Black Country Heritage with the introduction of a new wedding menu packed with traditional local delicacies.
The Black Country Wedding Menu, which is available to all couples using the Banks’s Stadium as a wedding venue, features dishes synonymous with the area such as faggots and peas, steak and Banks’s ale pie and chicken balti.
The menu is the brain-child of Head Chef, Richard Varley, who came up with the concept after seeing the kind of food served at the weddings of high-profile footballers over the summer.
Varley took inspiration from the menus available at the weddings of England stars John Terry, Gary Neville and Michael Carrick and added a Walsall flavour to come up with his new concept.
“The kind of food being served at these weddings was typically English,” he explained. “Fish and chips featured heavily on the menu’s and I thought it would be good to offer an alternative menu here.
“The Black Country is famous for a number of dishes and we’ve combined them all in our new Black Country Wedding Menu.
“Obviously, other menus are available as we cater for a variety of weddings here at the Banks’s Stadium.
“We are a multi-cultural venue and the Black Country Wedding Menu is another option to couples, which we are sure will prove popular.”

WALSALL FOOTBALL CLUB AWARDED
August 2007
It wasn’t just on the field that Walsall Football Club excelled during 2006/07, the club also picked up a number of awards at the recent Official Football Hospitality Awards.
The awards, which were held on Thursday 24th May at St James’ Park, recognised excellence off the field and The Saddlers were nominated in three separate categories, picking up the Bronze Award for Matchday Hospitality Excellence.
Catering teams from the Barclays Premiership through to Coca-Cola League Two attended the awards, which were presented by Newcastle United legend Peter Beardsley.
The Saddlers’ first nomination was in the category of Conference & Events Marketing. This award was judged by an independent conference professional, marking quality of website, marketing literature contents and mystery shopper style telephone call.
Walsall Football Club was also nominated in the prestigious Directors Choice for Coca-Cola League 2 Nomination, which is voted for by the Board of Directors at each League Two Club during an away match visit.
After two nominations, Walsall Football Club picked up their first award when they received ‘Bronze’ in the Matchday Hospitality Experience Category.
